Penguins Falter In ShootoutIt was an early afternoon game against the bears because of the Olympic USA Vs. Canada game for the gold medal this afternoon but it wasn't a bad crowd on hand. The Pens looked good early on scoring the first goal against Varlamov late in the first period making it one nothing heading for the dressing room, but you just knew the Bears weren't giving up that easy. The second period was going good for the Pens no they weren't scoring but then again neither were the bears, that is until around the midway mark when hershey's Wilson lit the lamp making it a one all game. The second period would end that way and you had a feeling that the third was going to have a lot of action in it seeing how the rivalry is between these two clubs. The third period came and went a little bit of rough stuff nothing major maybe a stinky glove to the face, other than that there wasn't a lot of calls at all tonight a few that should have been and I mean on both sides but weren't but that's about it. The game went to OT both teams taking a point on the regulation play both teams had a few chances during the OT period but nothing came of it. A little scuffle in OT when Lovejoy got put into the boards on what looked to be a textbook boarding call then retaliated against Hershey's Perreault both getting the gate for matching minors. The shootout well that is self explanatory, Hershey won. The Penguins power play wasn't on it's game tonight I think if they had a better showing the outcome may have been a little different, but then again Hershey has a good PK so maybe it was a wash as do the Pens killing off the two chances the Bears had as well. As for the other hockey game today I sat I watched I cheered, it was a great game for both sides just goes to show you that you can put these boys side by side with players that they are mortal enemies with during season and against guys they are team mates with during the season and they will still play their hearts out to win for their team. Great game guys and hats off to the Canadian team for winning the gold.
